Extra Time, Extra Thanks.

It’s been a year of loss for all of us. Lost income & jobs, lost holidays & cultural experiences, lost security, and, of course lost lives. There was a lot of loss, and we have to honor that.

However, I’ve managed to gain some important things this year, too. I’ve gained the ability to learn when to stop, take a break, assess, and regroup. As a small business owner I’m used to dealing with change and reinvention, but sitting with this extra time helped me adapt with more perspective. I’ve gained insight on the wonderful possibility of teamwork during these hard times, and want to thank the team that helps me run a smoother, more efficient business now.

So thank you to Stephanie–the assistant, secretary, web developer, digital concierge and all around woman-behind-this-woman who helps me get through the day to day so I have the space to be the best hairdresser I can be for you. And thank you to Debbie, who puts my thoughts into words so I can communicate and connect with you during these turbulent times.

And of course, thank you for sticking with me through all these changes and restrictions. You, too, are part of the team that keeps me buoyant when everything else wants to drag me down. I am proud of and grateful for the studio community you’ve helped me build.

Maybe just like you, I’m tired. Always being on guard is exhausting, and only gets harder the more people you’re looking after. That’s why I’m closing the studio from December 24 to January 6. My family and I need to relax and enjoy some spontaneous outdoor dates without worrying about the greater impact to school or studio safety. Like you, we need a moment to just be. 

I’m looking forward to 2021, a slowing down of this destructive pandemic and, hopefully, more peaceful and constructive communication between people who stand on opposite views. 

Most of all I hope you can enjoy a warm holiday season with love, laughter, good food–and good wine!
